Chulitna Lodge Artist Fellowship
(Lake Clark, Alaska)
In the Summer of 2022 I was awarded an artist fellowship at Chulitna Lodge, located on the shores of Lake Clark (Lake Clark National Park, Alaska). For 6 weeks at the height of summer, I lived in a yurt which doubled as a studio. My days were largely spent walking, drawing, painting, writing, and communing with the staff and other artists. It was a dream.
Upon returning, I compiled all of my work (drawings, notes, etc) into a book, titled 'All Together Now'.
Through a week long residency (Feb, 2023) with local Detroit printmakers, Smallworks, I finalized the design and printed 100 copies using a risograph, silkscreen, and letterpress. (see below)
pen and ink
Most of the studio work I created there was in pen and ink .
The drawings were later used for the book project I completed in February 2023.
sketchbook work
As part of a daily practice, I filled a 4.5"x7" sketchbook with thoughts, drawings, and small painting studies in acrylic.
